Creating Visual Stories For Myself And Others
There comes a time in a child’s life when they are asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”. My first answer was to become a lawyer. Then it soon changed to a doctor. I also considered becoming a famous singer and even a news anchor. Why would I choose these occupations when I did not necessarily know anyone in these fields to influence me? They were all exposed to me through film and videos.

Growing up, I was not the most talkative child. I kept to myself and stuck to my hobbies; writing, drawing, and creating videos. I loved watching tv shows and movies with my family, and what I saw continued to shape my imagination as a child. My mind was a place that created endless ideas. As a kid, I daydreamed a lot. Anything that I thought about creating, from kid-ish newscasts, amateur short films, or silly music videos, I would grab my dad's camcorder, press record, and film them. All I wanted to do was tell stories!

Where I'm from, people told me there were no film opportunities. However, my father saw my passion for video and discovered a way for me to learn more about it in high school. The knowledge I gained from this opportunity helped me win a statewide video production competition and participate in nationals. That only motivated me more! When I graduated high school, I decided to continue on my filmmaking path into college and even graduate school where I won my university's Film Creative Achievement Award.

Throughout my journey as a video creator, I've been able to provide a wide range of audiovisual services to people who want their stories told, as well as, telling my own stories. I've been able to propose ideas and execute them through the entire video process. I've presented professional video quality and a final sequence that evokes emotions from viewers. I've given people a way to express themselves in a way they never had before. Seeing people happy with the projects I create will always make what I do worth it. There were always film opportunities wherever I went. I just had to create them!
