On April 3, 2020, I came up with the idea of Life, Camera, Action. I knew I wanted to start a blog and create videos about something that's been a part of my life for a very long time, and that is storytelling. This journey hasn't been easy. I actually brought on more responsibilities and experienced technical problems for a couple of months. I wasn't able to create as much as I would have liked. Nevertheless, Life, Camera, Action made it to a year and I don't plan on stopping soon. In this blog post, I will recap the past year.

As we all know, 2020 wasn't the easiest year. Businesses were closing, schools were shutting down, and many of us were stuck at home. Not to mention the devasting number of lives lost because of the pandemic. It was such a depressing year, it's surprising how anyone was motivated to create during that time. But during the beginning of the pandemic, I read about creativity during times of crisis. It basically states when the lives of people change, so do their minds, unleashing creative possibilities. That inspired me. Although I have been wanting to create a passion project for some time before the pandemic, I decided to get serious about Life, Camera, Action.

I spent the first month brainstorming brand images and colors. That was one of the first fun parts I'd experienced during this journey. I drafted logos and chose colors that I thought were cute, but after many drafts, I knew exactly what I wanted for a logo. I reached out to a graphic designer, and they created exactly what I wanted. I felt so excited seeing the first step of my vision coming to life. It only made me eager to do more!

After my logo was done, I debated if I needed to make a website or not. I made my social accounts, but a website with a domain would cost me! I knew I didn't have to make a website so early into my journey. Still, I made a free website just to see how well I could create one. I actually ended up liking my first draft of the website, but I didn't publish it. The thought of having a website stayed on my mind though! In June 2020, I finally published my website! Months passed and I kept tweaking the site to improve it. I ended up creating a new, much cleaner look for my site in November, which is the current look.

Ideas of the type of content I created came to me every once and a while, and that's okay. It's only one person putting in the effort to create posts and that is me! When I do think of content to post, I quickly create it and if I can't create it then, I make a note for later. I already had my socials and just like my website had a makeover, so did they. I constantly observed how I could improve them and I wasn't ashamed to delete old posts that weren't fitting well with my newer ones. As I continued to create, I learned it takes time to create a good social strategy. I love what I have done on Instagram and Twitter!

Before I came up with the idea of Life, Camera, Action, I actually had a lot of spare time to create. I was working part-time and had no other responsibilities. But I wanted to do more. I saw some opportunities and I took them. I applied for two graduate programs and got accepted into both in July of 2020. That most certainly wasn't the easiest thing to do but going to graduate school was on my mind as soon as I graduated from undergrad. I also started working full-time in October of 2020. This past year, I spent more time focusing on my job and school, but I am eternally grateful for the unexpected blessings I received during these times.

In November 2020, I started creating what I considered to be a major game-changer. I began creating animations! Animations are one of my favorite types of content to create. It's so visually pleasing, however, it takes a lot of time to create. Not only did I have to come up with the idea for the video, I had to write the script, do a voiceover, and edit the animation and the audio. This isn't something to be done in a day. But the time is worth it. I love how all of my animations have turned out so and am eager to even create more.

In December 2020, I started experiencing issues with my computer. I couldn't create any animations until March! Those were a few frustrating months because so much time was lost. But I was able to create my Instagram posts on my phone. Finally, in March when I was able to start back working on my computer, the first thing I created was a video. I didn't want to waste any more time!

That brings us to April 2021! One year of Life, Camera, Action! I can't wait to continue to come up with ideas and create content. My vision is slowly, but surely coming to life. I look forward to growing this brand and building a community! Here's to another year!
